Omnivores-Carnivores-Herbivores

Animals can be classified in many ways. Mammal, bird etc. this causes a web to be formed using the characteristics of omnivore, carnivore and herbivore.

Omnivore= An animal that eats both plants and animals

Carnivore= An animal that eats only meat

Herbivore = An animal that eats only plants

AND

Primary consumer (Herbivores)

Secondary consumer (Carnivore)

Decomposers (Fungi and worms, bugs etc.)

Producer (Plants)

Omnivores are both primary and secondary consumers.

Algea

Algae is a very weird substance. Some might think of it as a plant others a Protista. Algae is in the Plantae (plant) kingdom. It is multicellular, makes its own food, and has chlorophyll. You have to be careful, this can very easily be misunderstood.

Food Chains

The food chain starts easily at the basic sun. It then travels over time up into a plant or something like that like grass. Grass is eaten by animals that we know and sometimes love today, take the basic grass hopper for an example. Grasshoppers eat grass as their "daily" food. But when we have clouds and no sun for months or even weeks, grass starts to die. Because the sun is hidden, grass can no longer absorb its energy so it dies. Grasshoppers can than no longer eat and all of them die and so on.... ex: Hawks eat mice which eat grasshoppers and grasshoppers eat grass AND grass gets its energy from the sun, so if one of those is taken out, this very small food chain will fall apart.

A food chain can also be classified as an animal pyramid.
